Thousands of Muslim devotees have taken part in the first Eid-ul-Azha prayer congregation at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.
The congregation began at 7am on Saturday, led by Tamirul Millat Kamil Madrasah Principal Khalilur Rahman Madani.
Devotees began flocking to the mosque from different parts of Dhaka early in the morning. By 6:45am, the mosque was filled to the brim.
After the Eid prayers, devotees raised their hands to pray to Allah for the welfare of the country and the nation.
Devotees then exchanged traditional embraces and Eid greetings.
As every year, five Eid-ul-Azha congregations are set to be held at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque this year.
The congregational prayers are scheduled for 7:00am, 8:00am, 9:00am, 10:00am, and 10:45am, according to the the Islamic Foundation.
Maulana Abu Saleh Patoari, a Mufassir (Quran commentator) from the Islamic Foundation, conducted the second congregation.
The third congregation was helmed by Mustak Ahmad, deputy director of the Islamic Foundation's Translation Department, and the fourth by Mufti Mohammad Abdullah from the foundation's Research Division.
The fifth and final congregational prayer was be led by Maulana Mohammad Nur Uddin, a language instructor from the foundation’s Religious Message & Cultural Department.
