The Madrasah Education Board has postponed the Bengali First Paper test for Dakhil by a day for Easter Sunday.
The exam, previously slated for Apr 20, will be held on Apr 21, according to the new schedule announced by the board on Wednesday, confirmed Muhammad Abdus Salam, deputy controller of examinations of the board.
Md Kamrul Ahsan, the board’s controller of examinations, said: "The examinations are held in coordination with the inter-education board. One of the SSC [Secondary School Certificate] exams has been postponed due to Easter Sunday, so we also pushed one back.”
This marks the second revision of the Dakhil exam timetable after the Arabic First Paper test was pushed back from Apr 13 to May 13.
The Dakhil tests are also set to begin on Apr 10 alongside the Secondary SSC exams. This year's Dakhil exam will kick off with the Quran Majeed and Tajweed test.
Dakhil’s theoretical tests will continue until May 13 before the practical exams are held between May 14-18.
Meanwhile, the general education boards also made two changes to the SSC examination schedule.
The SSC's Bengali Second Paper test, previously slated for Apr 13, will be held on May 13, while the mathematics test was deferred from Apr 20 to Apr 21.
The education authorities told bdnews24.com that the math exam has been postponed due to “Easter Sunday”.
More than 1.92 million students will sit for the SSC and equivalent exams this year. Of these, 1.49 million students will appear for the exam under nine general education boards.
Another 294,726 students will take the Dakhil exams under the Madrasah Education Board, while 143,313 will appear under the Technical Education Board.
All coaching centres will remain closed during the exams from Apr 10 to May 13.
