United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk has promised support to Bangladesh amid the country’s changed political circumstances.

He made the commitment while speaking to reporters after a meeting with Foreign Advisor Touhid Hossain at the ministry on Wednesday.

Türk said, "Several issues were discussed in the meeting. I have expressed my commitment to addressing Bangladesh's human rights challenges in this crucial time in the changed context. We also discussed how we can help each other."

Türk arrived in Dhaka on Tuesday on a two-day visit at the invitation of the interim government.

He met the foreign advisor on Wednesday morning amid a series of public and private-level meetings.

Earlier in the morning, he attended a meeting with the heads of the commissions formed for state reforms in the capital.

He is also scheduled to meet Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus later in the day.
