A total of nine people, including former law minister Anisul Huq and former shipping minister Shajahan Khan, have been shown arrested in murder and attempted-to-murder cases filed at different police stations surrounding the Anti-discrimination Student Movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Monirul Islam delivered the orders following the petition filed by the investigating officers of the cases on Wednesday.
The others shown arrested are former LGRD and cooperatives minister Md Tajul Islam, former state minister for industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder, former Dhaka North City Corporation mayor Atiqul Islam, former Dhaka-7 MP Solaiman Salim, journalist couple Farzana Rupa and Shakil Ahmed, and former Jatrabari Police Station chief Abul Hossain.
Among them, Anisul, Shajahan and Atiqul were shown arrested in separate murder cases with Jatrabari police.
Tajul has been shown arrested in a Khilgaon Police Station attempt-to-murder case and Paltan Police Station’s murder cases, Kamal in Mirpur Police Station’s murder case and Salim in Lalbagh Police Station’s murder case.
The court also approved the arrest of journalist couple Rupa and Shakil in two murder cases filed with Jatrabari Police Station.
Meanwhile, former Jatrabari police chief Hasan was shown arrested in two separate cases, one for murder and another for an attempt to murder.
