At least three Dhaka-bound flights from Turkey and Kuwait have been re-routed on Wednesday because of the fighting between India and Pakistan, say Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport authorities.

Several airlines diverted or cancelled their international passenger flights to avoid possible missile attacks.

Group Captain Muhammed Kamrul Islam, executive director of Shahjalal International Airport said three international flights to Bangladesh changed their flight path as the air route over India and Pakistan was considered unsafe due to missile attacks near the border on Wednesday.

Among them, flight TK-712/713 of Turkish Airlines flying to Dhaka was diverted and landed at the Muscat Internatioanl Airport in Oman. The 531/ 532 flight of Jazeera Airways left Kuwait for Dhaka but was diverted to Dubai. Another flight of the same airlines from Kuwait (533/534) returned to Kuwait.

“The diverted flights have started to arrive in Dhaka since this morning. Airport operations are normal," the executive director said.
